Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, who missed the last nine regular-season games and the first two contests of the series with an upper-body injury, was absent from Pens morning skate after not participating in Sunday's optional practice.
"He just hasn’t been progressing, so that’s a step that’s been taken," head coach Mike Johnston said of keeping Ehrhoff off the ice. "And it’s just simply because he had sort of flatlined in his recovery and hadn’t been progressing from there."--Michelle Crechiolo
Pouliot continues to practice. Still listed as day-to-day.
Malkin hopes to break out soon.

START ME UP
Good morning hockey fans. Tonight the Pens host the Rangers in Game 3 and are looking to claim a series advantage in front of the home crowd. Here are some game notes to get you ready...
- The Penguins and New York Rangers play Game 3 of the First Round (TV: ROOT SPORTS; Radio 105.9 The X) at CONSOL Energy Center.
- This series is one of the six First Round matchups even at 1-1 after two games.
- Four of the six Penguins-Rangers series have been tied at 1-1 after two games. The Penguins won two of the first three instances.
- The Penguins have an overall record of 35-21 all-time in Game 3, including a 12-10 mark at home. During the Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin era, the Penguins have gone 3-1 in Game 3s played at home. The lone loss was a 4-2 setback against Ottawa in Game 3 of the 2007 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals – the first-ever home playoff game for that duo.
