The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Tomas Surovy from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced Sunday by General Manager Craig Patrick.
Surovy, 24, is tied for third in the American Hockey League with 16 goals and is tied for eighth in scoring with 28 points (16+12) in 25 games.
Surovy leads Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in goals and power-play goals (9) and ranks second on the team in scoring.
The 6-1 and 212-pound native of Banska Bystica, Slovakia has appeared in 73 NHL games, all with the Penguins, recording 34 points (15+19) and 26 penalty minutes. Surovy was drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round (120th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
