The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Derrick Pouliot from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
The Penguins also announced that forward Bobby Farnham has been re-assigned to WBS.
Pouliot, 21, has played seven games in Pittsburgh this season, notching one goal, two assists, three points and a plus-1. He scored in his NHL debut against the Florida Panthers on Dec. 20 at CONSOL Energy Cetner.
Pittsburgh’s first-round (8th overall) draft pick in 2012, Pouliot is the WBS Penguins’ leading scorer with 21 points (7G-14A) in 25 AHL contests. He was chosen to play in the AHL All-Star Classic that will be held Jan. 26 in Utica.
The Penguins play their final game before the NHL All-Star Break tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks at 8 p.m. at CONSOL Energy Center in a game that will be nationally broadcast on NBC Sports Network.
