The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled goaltender Alex D'Orio from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.

D'Orio, 22, has split his 2020-21 season on the Pittsburgh taxi squad and with both WBS and the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. For WBS, D'Orio posted a 5-3-1 record, 2.30 goals-against-average and .911 save percentage. In Wheeling, D'Orio played in 11 games, recording one shutout.
The Sherbrooke, Quebec native has spent most of his career with Wheeling in the ECHL, playing in 42 games with the Nailers. D'Orio made his WBS debut during the 2018-19 season but 10 of his 11 career AHL games have come this season.
Pittsburgh completes its regular season tomorrow, Saturday afternoon against the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena. Puck drop is at 3:00 PM.
