Penguins Recall Forward Bryan Rust

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Bryan Rust from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

The Penguins assigned defenseman Tim Erixon to WBS to make room on their roster.

Rust, 23, has recorded one assist in two games this season for WBS. Rust scored his first NHL goal on Dec. 15, 2014 versus Tampa Bay and finished with two points (1G-1A) in 14 games with Pittsburgh last season.

The former Notre Dame standout picked up 27 points (13G-14A) for WBS in 2014-15 despite being limited to 42 games due to injury/call-ups.

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Rust was one of six players to make their NHL debut for Pittsburgh last season. Rust was Pittsburgh’s third-round pick (80th overall) in the 2010 Draft.
