The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Scott Harrington from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
The Penguins also re-assigned defenseman Taylor Chorney to WBS.
Harrington, 21, was one of Pittsburgh’s final roster cuts earlier this week after finishing plus-1 in five NHL preseason games.
A native of Kingston, Ontario, Harrington played in 76 AHL regular-season games as a rookie last season for WBS, tying for second among team blueliners with 24 points (5G-19A) while helping his team allow the fewest goals in the AHL.
Harrington was a two-time Ontario Hockey League (OHL) champion with the London Knights in 2012 and ’13. Both seasons he was named an OHL First-Team All-Star.
