The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Robert Bortuzzo from his conditioning assignment with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Bortuzzo, 24, helped WBS go 2-0-1 this weekend by contributing one assist and a plus-2 rating in three games. For the season, Bortuzzo has amassed four points (1G-3A) and a plus-4 rating in 31 AHL games.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Bortuzzo has appeared in 11 NHL games this season for Pittsburgh, collecting two points (1G-1A) and a plus-3 rating. He’s finished plus or even in eight of his 11 NHL games. Bortuzzo scored his first NHL goal against Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils on Feb. 2 at CONSOL Energy Center.
