Penguins Re-Assign Goaltender Tomas Vokoun to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a Conditioning Assignment

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned goaltender Tomas Vokoun to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on a conditioning assignment, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.

Vokoun, 37, has not played a regular-season game this season following emergency surgery to dissolve a blood clot in his pelvis back in September.

Last season, his first with Pittsburgh, Vokoun went 13-4 with three shutouts in 20 regular-season contests, then helped backstop the Penguins to the Eastern Conference finals, going 6-5 with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in 11 postseason games.
