Penguins Prospects Help Lead Boston College to National Title

by Jason Seidling / Pittsburgh Penguins
A pair of Penguins prospects played a key role Saturday night as the Boston College Eagles defeated the Wisconsin Badgers, 5-0, at Ford Field in Detroit to capture the 2010 NCAA National Championship.

Freshman defenseman Philip Samuelsson, the Penguins second-round draft pick (61st overall) last June, picked up an assist on Chris Kreider's third-period tally and finished the contest plus-3. Senior Carl Sneep, a 2006 second-round draft pick (32nd overall), posted an even rating while seeing time on the Eagles top power-play and penalty killing units.

Boston College also featured two freshman with local ties - defenseman Patrick Wey (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and goaltender Parker Milner (Mt. Lebanon, Pa.).

This was Boston College's second national championship in the past three seasons.
