Penguins prospect Nick Johnson has been chosen as the 123rd captain of the Dartmouth men’s hockey team.
Johnson, a Pittsburgh 2004 third-round choice (67th overall), follows in the footsteps of his father, Kevin (a 1977 graduate) and his uncle Dana (a 1973 product) as the elder Johnsons were both key members of the Big Green in the mid-to-late 1970s.
Kevin was Dartmouth’s leading scorer in the 1976-77 season while Dana was captain of the 1972-73 squad.
Nick, a junior, was Dartmouth’s third-leading scorer last season with 30 points and he is just 10 away from 100. He continues to be one of Dartmouth’s top forwards as he played in all 33 games last season and has seen time in 101 over past three years.
Dartmouth will begin the 2007-08 season traveling to the University of Vermont on Oct. 28 for a 2:00 faceoff.
