The Pittsburgh Penguins are asking fans to wear their favorite Penguins jerseys or youth hockey jerseys to work or school on Friday, Feb. 17 at the start of Hockey Weekend Across America.
“Wear Your Hockey Jersey Day” began as a concept to have youth or high school players wear their jerseys to school, but the Penguins are encouraging all fans to get involved this year as part of USA Hockey’s fifth annual “Hockey Weekend” -- a three-day celebration of the sport being held Feb. 17-19 (www.usahockey.com
On Friday, Feb. 17, the Penguins will direct fans to the team’s official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pghpenguins
) to submit photos of themselves, their friends and colleagues wearing Penguins or youth jerseys at work or school. Three fans who submit photos, chosen at random, will receive prizes – either an autographed Evgeni Malkin
jersey; two free tickets to the Saturday, Feb. 25 home game vs. Tampa Bay; or two free tickets to the Sunday, Feb. 26 home game vs. Columbus.
