Penguins Prepare to Deck the Halls at Annual Toy Collections
/ Pittsburgh Penguins
It’s that time of year again, when the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and their fans team up with U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots representatives to bring joy and good cheer to many local children during the holiday season at the annual Toy Collections at CONSOL Energy Center. Fans will have two opportunities to donate toys this season.
The consecutive toy collections will be held on Monday, December 6 when the Penguins take on the New Jersey Devils and Wednesday, December 8 when the team battles the Toronto Maple Leafs. Every fan that brings an unwrapped, new toy to the game or makes a cash donation will be eligible to win Penguins’ autographed memorabilia. Donations will be accepted at the American Eagle Gate, Trib Total Media Gate and Verizon Gate from 6:00 pm when gates open until 10 minutes into the first period.
All of the toys and cash donations collected at the game will be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program for Marines to distribute to underprivileged children in the Pittsburgh area.
This is the 18th year that the Penguins have conducted the toy drive, and we hope to make this year the best collection yet! The Penguins’ annual toy drives have collected over 18,634 toys and $47,954 in donations since 1992. We encourage all fans to share the holiday spirit with disadvantaged children and donate a toy or cash!
