Penguins Power Play Street Hockey Tournament Crowns 8 Champions!

Forty-eight teams and 432 players participated in the annual Penguins Power Play Street Hockey tournament, November 9th to 11th hosted by DekStar and Team Pittsburgh’s facility in Brighton Heights. Play was 4-on-4: Wide-open with plenty of scoring chances!

The results were:

Youth 7-9 (6 teams):

  • Championship game: Team Pittsburgh Gold 3, Murrysville 2
  • Third-place game: Team Pittsburgh Black 2, South Hills 0

Youth 10-12 (5 teams):

  • Championship game: DekStar 3, Penn Hills 1
  • Third-place game: Murrysville 1, Wizards 0

Youth 13-15 (6 teams):

  • Championship game: Penn Hills 3, Team Pittsburgh Bald Eagles
  • Third-place game: Team Pittsburgh Rage 4, South Hills 1

High school (9 teams):

  • “A” Championship game: Plum 3, Central Catholic 2
  • “A” Third-place game: North Allegheny 2, Bethel Park 0
  • “B” Championship game: Steel Valley 4, Frazier 1

Men’s Rec (10 teams):

  • Championship game: Tough Guys 3, DekRats 2

Men’s D (6 teams):

  • Championship game: Bill’s A 3, Bills B 1

Men’s Open (6 teams):

  • Championship game: Top Flight 3, Team Pittsburgh Gods 1

“We had a great turnout, and lots of different winners this time around,” said tournament director Mark Madden, a radio host at WXDX-FM. “It was the first time for the high school division. Nine teams is an excellent start, and the final was a class game. I see the high school division becoming bigger and bigger.”
