The Pittsburgh Penguins have named Kerry Huffman director of professional scouting, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.
In his new role, Huffman will oversee Pittsburgh's four-person pro scouting staff and coordinate the team's pro scouting efforts in the NHL and AHL.

The 54-year-old Huffman joined the Penguins in the 2021-22 season as a professional scout. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms from 2016-21. The Phantoms went 170-86-22-12 in Huffman's five seasons with them, including an Atlantic Division title in 2017-18.
Huffman was an NHLPA certified player agent from 2012-16 with the Will Sports Group, and in 2008 also created Platinum Hockey Group Consulting Company, a marketing and promotion/risk management firm for athletes. Some of his clients included Mike Cammelleri, Tyler Seguin, Alex Galchenyuk, Scott Gomez, Rick Tocchet and Garth Snow.
The Peterborough, ON native played 401 NHL games over a 10-year professional career as a defenseman from 1987-96, recording 145 points (37G-108A) with Philadelphia, Quebec and Ottawa. Huffman was teammates with Hextall in Philadelphia from 1987-92 and '96, as well as in Quebec in '92-93.
