Ottawa posted a 6-3 win in Game 1 on Wednesday. The Penguins rebounded for a 4-3 triumph in Game 2 on Saturday. However, the Senators scored four-straight goals Sunday to grab a 4-2 victory and a 2-1 series lead.
On Sunday, the Penguins scored 52 seconds into the contest in front of a rowdy Mellon Arena crowd. The Senators rallied for a 4-1 lead in the third before Sidney Crosby’s highlight-reel diving goal off a perfect Evgeni Malkin saucer pass trimmed the deficit to 4-2. Yet, the Penguins were unable to find the back of the net again in the defeat.
After Tuesday’s battle, the best-of-seven series shifts to Ottawa on Thursday at 7 p.m.
