Now, they have a chance to do it again.
The Penguins will again be collecting toys and cash donations on Saturday night, when they take on the New Jersey Devils at 7:30 p.m. at Mellon Arena. All toys and cash will be donated to the U.S. Marines “Toys for Tots” program for distribution to underprivileged families in the Pittsburgh area.
“This is the 16th year that we’ve held the toy drive, and our fans set all-time records last week for both toys and cash donations,” said James Santilli, the team’s vice president of marketing. “By collecting again this weekend, we’ll be able to give more of our fans the opportunity to participate in this worthy cause for ‘Toys for Tots.’ Given what is going on with the economy, it is more important than ever this year to help these children.”
Every fan who brings an unopened new toy or makes a cash donation will be eligible to win Penguins’ autographed memorabilia, including a grand prize Evgeni Malkin
-autographed framed print from Frameworth.
Donations will be collected at Mellon Arena Gates 1, 3 and 10. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and collections will continue through the first 10 minutes of the first period.
