Penguins Honored with Good Luck Message from 313th Air Expeditionary Wing

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Penguins organization always strives to honor the men and women who make up our nation’s armed forces and we are happy to do so when the opportunity arises.  However, today, the U.S. Air Force’s 313th Air Expeditionary Wing surprised the team by filming a good luck message for the organization in our quest for another Stanley Cup!

The 313th Air Expeditionary Wing is comprised of Airmen from all walks of life and numerous locations through the United States, but the men and women featured in the shout out to the Penguins was created by the 171st Air Refueling Wing from Pittsburgh.
Led by Brigadier General Roy Uptegraff, wing commander of the 171st Air Refueling Wing in Pittsburgh and currently serving as the commander of the 313th, these Airmen are stationed in Western Europe and deployed to the 313th Air Expeditionary Wing in support of Operation Unified Protector.  Operation Unified Protector is a NATO-led mission in Libya that protects civilians and civilian-populated areas under the threat of attack.  The 313th Air Expeditionary Wing provides aerial refueling to U.S. and coalition aircraft with KC-135 Stratotankers and KC-10 Extenders.
The Penguins thank the 171st Air Refueling Wing for their fantastic video and their service to our country!
