banner raising home opener

The Pittsburgh Penguins will host the St. Louis Blues in their 2017-18 home opener on Wednesday, October 4 at 8:00 PM at PPG Paints Arena.
Before the game, the back-to-back champion Penguins will unveil their 2017 Stanley Cup championship banner as part of the pre-game festivities.

More details on opening night will be announced at a later date.
The Penguins' complete 2017-18 regular-season schedule will be released on Thursday afternoon.
This will be the second time that the Penguins have hosted the Blues in their home opener. Back on Oct. 12, 1977, the Pens earned a 4-2 win against St. Louis at the Civic Arena.
Since Sidney Crosby joined the Penguins in 2005, the Penguins have gone 7-3-2 in home openers, including a 3-2 shootout win against the Washington Capitals in last year's opener. Before that game, the Penguins raised their 2016 Stanley Cup championship banner, debuting new, larger Cup banners that stood out from the others hanging in the PPG Paints Arena rafters.
