The Pittsburgh Penguins distributed more than 190,000 free concession items and sold more than 8,600 jerseys at half-price during special promotions at the first four home games.
Shortly after the NHL lockout ended, the Penguins announced that each fan attending the first four home games at CONSOL Energy Center would receive a voucher for three free concession items. All merchandise at the PensGear stores (both at CONSOL Energy Center and SouthSide Works) also was available for half-price on the first four game days.
Among the free concession items distributed were 52,142 fountain drinks, 33,289 nachos, 26,633 pretzels, 22,258 hot dogs, 22,118 chicken sandwiches and 20,380 hamburgers.
In addition to 8,680 jerseys, the Penguins also sold 18,950 t-shirts and 8,776 hats at half-price.
