Malkin celebrates

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin does not need surgery on his injured left elbow and is not expected to miss any playing time next season.
General manager Jim Rutherford told reporters after the Penguins won the Stanley Cup that there was a 50-50 chance Malkin would need Tommy John surgery to repair damaged ligaments. Instead, Malkin will work to rehabilitate the elbow during the summer.

Malkin sustained the injury in March and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks during the season, but returned in five for the Penguins' playoff run. Malkin missed 17 games with injuries in 2012-13, 22 games in 2013-14, 13 games in 2014-15 and 25 games this season.
The 29-year-old had 58 points in 57 regular-season games, then had 18 points in 23 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, helping the Penguins win their fourth championship.
