The Pittsburgh Penguins have declared Saturday Black & Gold Day at Mellon Arena.
Fans are encouraged to wear Black & Gold and bring their Terrible Towels when they come cheer on the Penguins against the New York Islanders at 2 p.m. as well as to honor the Pittsburgh Steelers’ run to Super Bowl XL in Detroit on Sunday.
Saturday’s Penguins game will be televised nationally, so fans are asked to display their Pittsburgh colors and wave their Terrible Towels throughout NBC’s telecast.
Sidney Crosby as well as a multitude of other Penguins will be cheering on the Steelers when they take on the Seattle Seahawks for the NFL championship on Sunday. Crosby displayed his Steelers pride last Wednesday when he waved a Terrible Towel during his skate around the ice after being named the game’s No. 1 star in an 8-1 romp over the Capitals.
