Penguins, CONSOL Energy Center Named Finalists For Prestigious 'Sports Business Awards'

The Pittsburgh Penguins are a finalist for Professional Sports Team of the Year and CONSOL Energy Center is a finalist as Sports Facility of the Year, it was announced today by the Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily.

Winners in those and 13 other categories will be announced at the “2011 Sports Business Awards – Honoring Excellence in Sports Business” event held May 18 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.
There are five finalists for Professional Sports Team of the Year – one from each of the major sports. They are the Penguins (NHL), the New York Jets (NFL), the Orlando Magic (NBA), the San Francisco Giants (MLB) and Ganassi Racing (motorsports).
There are six finalists for Sports Facility of the Year – CONSOL Energy Center (home of the Penguins), Target Field (home of the Minnesota Twins), Amway Center (home of the Orlando Magic), New Meadowlands Stadium (home of the New York Giants and Jets), Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Kansas City Chiefs) and Red Bull Arena (home of the New York Red Bulls of MLS).
