The Boston Bruins' 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night ensures the Penguins will begin the second round of the playoffs with home-ice advantage.
However, the Penguins won't know which team they will face until Wednesday night because the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Washington Capitals, 4-1, on Monday to force a Game 7 at Verizon Center.
What the Penguins do know is that their second-round opponent has been narrowed down to the Bruins or the Canadiens. The Penguins cannot play the Capitals or Philadelphia Flyers in round two.
If the Capitals win on Wednesday night the Penguins will host the Bruins in the second round. A Canadiens' victory would create a Pittsburgh-Montreal matchup.
Pittsburgh went 3-1 in the regular season against both the Bruins and Canadiens.
