Penguins, Aramark Ask Fans to Choose CONSOL Energy Center's "Signature Sandwich" For Face-Off at Winter Classic

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
With the NHL’s 2011 Winter Classic in Pittsburgh, ARAMARK – the food and beverage partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins – is asking Pens fans which sandwich from the new CONSOL Energy Center should join the Penguins when the puck is dropped for hockey’s annual outdoor showcase, January 1 at Heinz Field against the Washington Capitals.

Through December 23, the Penguins and ARAMARK will give fans the opportunity to choose one of the two finalists below as their team’s “signature sandwich.”
  • Kielbasa Grinder: Thin-sliced local kielbasa, traditional sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing piled on a rustic Italian roll
  • Hickory-Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich: Brown sugar-rubbed, house-smoked pork with fried onion straws stacked on a Pittsburgh-style soft roll

Fan Voting

During home games December 15, 20 and 22 at CONSOL Energy Center, fans will be able to taste each sandwich at sections 107 and 206 inside CONSOL Energy Center and cast their vote for which finalist best represents Pittsburgh, the Penguins and CONSOL Energy Center. Fans also can vote online by visiting through December 23.

The winning CONSOL Energy Center sandwich will compete against the “signature sandwich” from Washington, D.C.’s Verizon Center in the first Signature Sandwich Face-off at the 2011 Winter Classic, January 1 at Heinz Field, to determine which sandwich is most worthy of hockey fans’ appetites.
