by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
Twenty-two members of the Penguins first ever Stanley Cup Championship Team will join local alumni members as featured guests at the 14th Annual Penguins Alumni Charity Golf Classic presented by 84 Lumber on Tuesday, August 23 at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, PA.  The event will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Penguins first Stanley Cup Championship.

A total of 40 former players, coaches and general managers will be on hand as the Penguins Alumni Association will pay tribute to the players and coaches who brought the first Stanley Cup to Pittsburgh.  The event raises funds for local children’s charities.
Members of the 1990-91 Penguins team on hand will include former team captain Mario Lemieux; forwards Joe Mullen, Mark Recchi, Kevin Stevens, Bryan Trottier, Phil Bourque, Jay Caufield, Randy Gilhen, Jiri Hrdina, Troy Loney, Scott Young and Bob Errey; defensemen Larry Murphy, Gord Roberts, Grant Jennings, Jim Paek, Paul Stanton, Randy Hillier and Peter Taglianetti; along with assistant coaches Rick Kehoe and Gilles Meloche; and head scout Greg Malone.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Achieva, the Mario Lemieux Foundation and the Western PA School for the Deaf.  Over the past 13 years, the event has raised over $340,000 for charity.
Each threesome will be accompanied by one Penguins alumnus as they compete in the scramble-style tournament for prizes.
In addition to 18 holes of golf, the event includes a cocktail party, dinner and silent and live auctions.
