Penguins Add Post-Game Fireworks to Opening-Night Gala

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced today that a post-game fireworks display (weather permitting) has been added to the festivities for Friday’s regular-season opener against the New York Rangers at Mellon Arena.

The highlight of the evening will be a pre-game ceremony to raise the 2009 Stanley Cup championship banner. Fans are asked to be in their seats by 7:25 p.m.

Gates will open at 6 p.m., a half-hour earlier than usual.

As announced earlier this week, fans without tickets will be able to watch the ceremony and the game on a big screen in front of Gate 3.

The big screen, which has become a Pittsburgh playoff tradition, began operating Wednesday morning, showing playoff game highlights and the Penguins’ Stanley Cup championship DVD.
