Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Blues is the first of eight Penguins’ games being televised nationally by Versus.
Unfortunately, because of an ongoing dispute between DirecTV and Versus, DirecTV subsrcribers will not be able to see the game because DirecTV is currently not carrying Versus.
Negotiations are continuing, and the NHL is encouraging both sides to reach an agreement.
In the meantime, the NHL encourages fans who are DirecTV subscribers to make their voices heard. The following is a letter the NHL posted recently on nhl.com:
|Dear NHL Fans who are DirecTV Subscribers, |
We want all our fans who are DirecTV subscribers to be able to watch NHL games on VERSUS. We have met with DirecTV and VERSUS, both of whom are our business partners, and have emphasized that we -- and NHL fans everywhere -- want them to resolve their carriage dispute as quickly as possible so the most passionate fans in sports can enjoy the sport they love.
As our national broadcast partner, VERSUS has done a great job of covering NHL hockey for all of our fans. They have worked hard to grow their distribution to reach as many NHL fans as possible which is something we have and continue to wholeheartedly encourage. We have made it clear that we expect both parties to prioritize the needs of NHL fans who access VERSUS on DirecTV, and we will continue to make our voices -- and yours -- heard on the matter.
As a DirecTV subscriber, we encourage you to tell DirecTV that you want VERSUS back so that you don't miss any more NHL games this season. To reach DirecTV, you can call them at (800) DIRECTV or e-mail them at email@example.com
We appreciate the time you took to provide us feedback. We promise to keep you posted on all developments.
