The 2010-11 National Hockey League season is right around the corner, which means it won’t be long before this year’s video games are released. In anticipation, 2K Sports is currently running a tour titled “The REAL Hockey Experience on Wii” where they are stopping at 14 North American cities to promote NHL 2K11 for Nintendo Wii, which will be released on August 24.

The NHL 2K11 tour bus, which features Vancouver’s Ryan Kesler on the side, was in Pittsburgh this weekend. NHL 2K11 staffers were at the Best Buy at The Mall at Robinson last Saturday, and the Gamestop on McKnight Road on Sunday.
Fans who made it out to either the Mall at Robinson or Gamestop had the chance to visit the NHL 2K11 custom RV, sample the improved Wii MotionPlus control and take home NHL 2K11 prizes.
For the first time in 2010-11, NHL 2K11 will only be available on the Wii console. Thanks to the Wii MotionPlus control, video game players will be able to stickhandle and shoot in a similar fashion to the popular bowling and golf games Wii already produces.
The NHL 2K11 tour bus set out from Los Angeles in mid-July, reaching its first city, Calgary, on July 17. Pittsburgh was the eighth stop on the tour, which ends Sept. 7-8 with a visit to New York City.
