by Michelle Crechiolo / Pittsburgh Penguins
Penguins forward James Neal scored the game-winning goal and added an assist to power Canada past Norway, 3-2, on Saturday in 2011 IIHF World Championships qualifying round action in Kosice, Slovakia.

Neal, playing left wing on Canada’s top line with center Jason Spezza and right wing Rick Nash, scored his first goal of the tournament just under halfway through the third period to put the Canadians up 3-0 over the Norwegians.

Neal’s tally would prove to be crucial, as Norway battled back with two goals 1:13 apart in the second half of the third period.

Neal also assisted on Spezza’s first-period tally to open the scoring. The Penguins forward now has three points through four games, as he notched an assist in his tournament debut, a 9-1 win over France on Sunday.

The Canadians will wrap up qualifying round action against Sweden on Monday before traveling to Bratislava for the medal round.
