Morning Skate Update: 1/30

by Sam Kasan / Pittsburgh Penguins
Defenseman Brooks Orpik will return to the lineup for the Penguins in their Friday matchup with division rival New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center at 7 p.m.

Orpik suffered an undisclosed injury Jan. 16 against Anaheim. He rested for 10 days to heal and resumed skating Monday. Orpik, who missed three games in that stretch, rejoined his teammates for practice on Wednesday.

Orpik will replace Hal Gill on the blue line. The defensive pairings at Friday's morning skate were: Rob Scuderi-Ryan Whitney; Mark Eaton-Kris Letang; Brooks Orpik-Philippe Boucher.

The line combinations were: Pascal Dupuis-Sidney Crosby-Evgeni Malkin; Chris Minard-Jordan Staal-Petr Sykora; Tyler Kennedy-Maxime Talbot-Miroslav Satan; Eric Godard-Bill Thomas-Paul Bissonnette.

Marc-Andre Fleury will make his 12th straight appearance in goal for Pittsburgh.

Side note: Defenseman Sergei Gonchar made the trip with the Penguins, his first time traveling on the road with the team this season.
