Mario Lemieux Foundation and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation Announce Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Road race and family walk on October 6, 2013

The Mario Lemieux Foundation and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation announced today the inaugural Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run & Family Walk, on Sunday, October 6, 2013. All proceeds benefit the cancer research and patient care initiatives of the Mario Lemieux Foundation, as well as the youth hockey initiatives of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.

The 6.6K run (4.1 miles) will begin and end at CONSOL Energy Center and run through uptown Pittsburgh streets. All road race participants will receive a medal at the completion of their race.

Additionally, a one mile family walk will be offered.

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 organization that raises funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin’s Playroom Project, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation actively promotes physical well-being, encourages teamwork, stresses the value of education and provides essential life skills to young people through youth hockey and other activities.
