MALKIN'S GOAL AND ASSIST LEAD RUSSIA TO VICTORY

Evgeni Malkin scored a goal and added an assist Monday to lead Russia to a 4-2 win over Sweden at the IIHF World Championship in Moscow.

Malkin set up Denis Grebshkov for Russia’s second goal. After Sweden tied the game at 2-all at the second intermission, Malkin found the back of the net 9:51 into the third period for the game-winning goal.

Sergei Gonchar had two penalty minutes for Russia, which battles the Czech Republic on Wednesday.

Canada beat the United States, 6-3. Colby Armstrong and Jordan Staal did not have any points for Canada, which meets Switzerland on Thursday.
