Pens center Evgeni Malkin was scratched in the Penguins’ 4-1 loss to Philadelphia and is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.
The injury isn’t believed to be long-term.
“I don’t expect it to linger,” head coach Mike Johnston said. “It’s day-to-day, so it may be two, three, four, maybe somewhere in that range.”
Malkin was given a maintenance day on Tuesday, but while the Pens staff were working with him, they discovered “a slight injury.”
“When they were working with him the other day they found a slight injury that they wanted to be cautious about,” Johnston said. “So the decided to keep him out for tonight’s game and play it day-by-day from here.”
