by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins

Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero announced that the club has promoted Dan McKinnon to director of professional scouting.  In addition, the club has extended the contracts of the professional and amateur scouting staff through the 2008-09 season.

MacKinnon began his first year with the Penguins during the 2006-07 season as a professional scout.  Previously, he had spent six seasons with the Nashville Predators, four as a professional scout and two as a scouting coordinator.

The Penguins extended the contracts of professional scout Kevin Stevens; amateur scouts Brian Fitzgerald, Chuck Grillo, Jim Madigan, Wayne Meier, Darryl Plandowski, Matt Recchi; and European scouts Patrik Allvin and Robert Neuhauser.

Bill O’Flaherty has left the organization to become the director of professional scouting for the Florida Panthers.  The 2006-07 season was his first with the Penguins.  Prior to his stint with the Penguins, he was the Director of Player Personnel with the Los Angeles Kings since 1997.
