A local hockey product has joined the Penguins organization.
Pittsburgh native Tyler Murovich’s rights were acquired by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from the Springfield Falcons.
Murovich, 21, has most recently appeared in 14 games with the Reading Royals (ECHL), posting 10 points (4G-6A). The 5-foot-9, 178-pound former Pittsburgh Predator also appeared in 25 contests with the Falcons, recording four points (2G-2A).
Murovich, whose dad runs the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon, registered six points (2G-4A) in five games with the Syracuse Crunch in 2009-10, after spending a majority of the season with the Saginaw Spirit (OHL). In three seasons with the Spirit, Murovich totaled 153 points (70G-83A) in 189 games played.
