Letang Among Sophomores to Face Top Rookies at 2009 NHL YoungStars Game

Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will be among the sophomore squad facing the top rookies at the 2009 NHL YoungStars game in Montreal on January 24th, it was announced today by the National Hockey League (NHL).
Letang, 21, has scored 13 points (one goal, 12 assists) along with 12 penalty minutes in 38 games for Pittsburgh this season. He had a five-game scoring streak tallying five assists from November 1-13.
The 6-0, 205-pound defenseman played as a rookie in the 2008 NHL YoungStars Games in Atlanta. He appeared in 63 games for Pittsburgh last season, registering 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) and 23 penalty minutes. Letang recorded his first career playoff point in the NHL while skating in 16 post-season appearances with the Penguins.
The Montreal, Quebec native has played in 108 career games in the NHL, collecting 32 points (nine goals, 23 assists) and 39 penalty minutes. Letang won back-to-back gold medals with Canada at the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships. He was team captain in 2007 and tied for second in the tournament among defensemen in scoring with six points (six assists).
Letang was selected by the Penguins in the third round (62nd overall) of the 2005 Entry Draft.
