Kori Cheverie will serve as a guest coach for the Pittsburgh Penguins' 2023-24 season as part of the National Hockey League Coaches' Association Guest Coach Program, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas.

Cheverie will work closely with the Penguins' coaching staff during development camp, and will join and assist the organization's coaching staff during training camp and periodically during the 2023-24 season.

Cheverie, 36, has served as an assistant coach for the Canadian National Women's Team since 2021. She won a gold medal at the 2022 Olympic Games with Team Canada, and has served as the assistant coach at the last three World Championships, winning the gold medal in 2021 and '22. She also served as an assistant coach of Team Canada at the Women's World Under-18 Junior championship in 2019, helping lead the team to a gold medal.

The New Glasgow, Nova Scotia native became the first woman to coach a Canadian men's national team when she served as an assistant coach at the World Under-18 Junior Championship in 2022.

Prior to her time with Team Canada, Cheverie served as the assistant coach of Ryerson University from 2016-21. She became the first woman to be named a full-time assistant with a men's hockey program in U SPORTS history.

Cheverie spent the 2022-23 season as the associate head coach of Team Harvey's of the Professional Women's Hockey Players' Association, helping lead her team to the league championship title.

Cheverie assisted the Arizona Coyotes' coaching staff at the team's 2022 development camp as part of the organization's Diverse Hockey Coaches Internship.

Prior to her coaching career, Cheverie played six seasons in the Canadian Women's Hockey League with the Toronto Furies and Aeros from 2010-16.
