How long have you been following the Pens and how did you become a fan?
I've been following the Pens all my life. Born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, I've been watching games since I was a young kid. My first live game was on my 5th birthday. After college, my allegiance never faltered, even when moving to Oklahoma and Maryland for my career. While in Maryland, I met my wife who had never seen a hockey game, and developed a friendship/relationship while teaching her the sport through Penguin games. She's now as die-hard of a fan as I am, and we even wore Penguins jerseys at our wedding. On March 1, my wife and I moved back to my hometown to be closer to family, friends, and the team we love.
Who is your favorite Penguins player (past or present)?
Past: Mario Lemieux and Samuelsson; Present: Crosby, Malkin, Neal
Tell us about your favorite Penguins memory.
My favorite Penguins memory would be when I attended Game 3 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals at Mellon Arena. I had been to numerous games at the Igloo, but the crowd for this game was amazing. It was so loud I could barely hear myself think. Since we were down 2-0 in the series, it felt like the crowd lived and died with every shot, save and score. Everything was ramped up.
On a game day I usually...
On game day I always fly the colors, usually by wearing black and gold, if not a full jersey. I'll even try and coordinate between Home and Away, or blue if we're wearing the 3rd jerseys. I also always touch the decorative sandstone I have with the Penguins logo carved in it, which sits in front of my house.
