The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled goaltender Jeff Zatkoff from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
Zatkoff, 27, is coming off his second AHL shutout of the season, a 35-save performance in Saturday night’s 3-0 win against Binghamton. Earlier last week, Zatkoff served as the backup to Marc-Andre Fleury on Dec. 18 against Colorado.
This season, Zatkoff has played in 16 AHL games with WBS, posting a 10-5-1 record, 1.77 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage with two shutouts. Zatkoff ranks third in the AHL in goals-against average and seventh (tied) in save percentage.
