Tristan Jarry returned to practice on Friday at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex after missing Thursday's session due to being in the COVID-19 protocol. It was certainly a relief for the Penguins, as the 26-year-old goaltender has gotten off to a great start this season, going 2-0-1 with a .935 save percentage and 1.62 goals-against average.

"It's great," head coach Mike Sullivan said. "Obviously, it was confirmed that it was a false positive. He had to go through a certain process that the league requires from a protocol standpoint, and that's why he was in practice today. We were excited he was back."
Forward Jeff Carter remains out after testing positive for COVID-19, and he will not play on Saturday versus Toronto. Sullivan said it's his understanding that as of last night, the 36-year-old veteran continues to be asymptomatic.
"He'll go through a certain protocol, once again, that the league has spelled out for us," Sullivan said. "It's fairly complicated because it involves county and state rules and regulations as well with respect to this stuff. So our medical staff does a great job there just as far as making sure that that we adhere to those protocols. I can't really offer any anything specific other than that."
Carter, who is tied for the team scoring lead with four points (1G-3A) and had been the No. 1 center with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin both out, will be the third Penguins player to miss time in the early part of the 2021-22 campaign due to COVID-19.
Winger Jake Guentzel missed the season opener after testing positive and being asymptomatic, while forward Zach Aston-Reese missed the first two contests after testing positive and being symptomatic.
