Art of the Hit
HBO Sports' reality show "24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic" won a Sports Emmy Award for "Outstanding Edited Sports Special."

The show "24/7" followed the two NHL squads for four weeks leading up to their showdown in the 2011 Bridgestone Winter Classic at Heinz Field on Jan. 1, 2011. HBO was given full behind-the-scenes access to both teams, giving fans a peek inside the lives of the players, coaches and staffs in a four-episode series.

"The biggest thanks of all goes to the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals. Both organizations gave us unprecedentd access and cooperation in the middle of their seasons," Squirrel Hill native and "24/7" producer Bentley Weiner said, "and became our friends along the way. We share this award with them tonight."

The series was also nominated in the "Outstanding Post Produced Audio/Sound" and "The Dick Schaap Writing Award" categories.

The winners for the 32nd Annual Sports Emmy® Awards were announced today in New York City at the Frederick P. Rose Hall in Time Warner Center. For a complete list of all the winners, go to www.emmyonline.org/sports.
