Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith underwent a successful core muscle injury repair today, it was announced by general manager Ron Hextall.
The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia, Pa.
DeSmith, who made 48 saves in the Penguins' Game 1 win against the Rangers prior to exiting the game, will be sidelined for the remainder of the postseason.
