GNC and the Pittsburgh Penguins today reached a major partnership agreement that includes naming rights to the team’s popular “Student Rush” ticket program.
The multi-year agreement, which makes GNC the 12th Founding Partner at CONSOL Energy Center, includes promotional concepts that will benefit both Penguins fans and GNC customers.
The highly-acclaimed “Student Rush” program, which dates back to the late 1990s, enables several hundred college and high school students to attend each Penguins game at a discounted price.
To launch the new partnership, GNC will be presenting specially-designed “GNC Student Rush” t-shirts to “rushers” at the Thursday, March 17 game against Carolina. One lucky student also will receive two front-row tickets to the March 17 game, courtesy of GNC.
“The Penguins are excited to welcome GNC as a Founding Partner and the presenting sponsor of our ‘Student Rush’ program,’” said Terry Kalna, senior vice president of sales and broadcasting for the Penguins. “We have a young and digitally-savvy fan base, and ‘GNC Student Rush’ connects GNC to tens of thousands of area students via their mobile devices. The partnership enables both the Penguins and GNC to underscore our commitment to the young people of our region.”
“At GNC, we have had a long, successful relationship with the Penguins as the Official Vitamin & Sports Nutrition Retailer of the team,” said Michael G. Archbold, CEO of GNC. “Adding Student Rush and reaching yet another core group of passionate Penguins fans is ideal for GNC as we drive our message of health, wellness and performance products. In addition, becoming a Founding Partner of CONSOL Energy Center enhances our commitment to the Pittsburgh area, which has been our home since we were founded here 80 years ago.”
