Claim to Fame: He totaled 78 penalty minutes in a 22-game season two years ago in Sweden. Once Sundqvist skated past an opponent’s bench to elbow a sitting player. "It was a little frustration,” Sundqvist said. “That's not gonna happen again, I promise you."

2012-13 Season: The big center scored 13 goals and 13 assists in 26 games at the Super Elit level. He also played 14 games and scored one goal for Skelleftea, who went on to win the Swedish Elite League, the country’s top level of hockey.

Numbers Never Lie: Though he has calmed his temperament over the last season (50 PIM in 55 total games), Sundqvist was a penalty collector in Sweden. Over a span of 95 games from 2010 to 2012, he was in the box for 272 penalty minutes.

Sundqvist on transitioning from Swedish to North American hockey: “It’s a little bit tougher here. It's going faster on this ice. There’s a lot more time in Sweden to think. That's the big difference. The players also are bigger here … I've worked a lot with playing around the boards. That's something you have to be good at if you're going to play here. You have to know someone is coming all the time.”
