2013-14 Season: Finished his rookie campaign with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL), scoring 11 goals, 10 assists and 21 points in 58 games. He placed 3rd on the team with a shooting percentage of 14.7%.
Athlete and Scholar: Co-recipient of the USHL Scholar Athlete Award in 2013-14.
Numbers Never Lie: Had a solid two years with the Syracuse Jr. Stars of the Empire Junior Hockey League, where he accumulated 42 goals and 49 assists for 91 points in 74 games from 2011 to 2013. In two postseasons with Syracuse, Angello finished with five points (1G-4A) in 7 games.
On the moment when he found out he was drafted: “Oh, it was a dream come true and an absolute blessing. It was humbling. I was sitting in the living room and my advisor called me and I immediately got up and gave my Dad a hug. It was a real life changing moment for sure.”
On what he’s been doing this summer: “I’ve been training extremely hard, working out and skating five to six times a week and getting ready for camp. It’s an unbelievable city, great coaches, great fans, unbelievable organization and facility. I’m just doing my best and what I can every day to get better and make sure I make this team.”
On how he describes his style of play: “I describe myself as a power forward. A two-way guy that can make smart decisions with the puck, penalty kill, power-play guy in front of the net. Whatever role I need to play to help my team win.”
On his favorite NHL player: “I most definitely look up to Sidney Crosby. I’ve been a huge fan of his every since I’ve been a little kid. I have posters, plaques hanging in my room with him and I look at him every day and the way he can puck control and be able to create offense. His determination and work ethic to be one of the, if not the, best player in the NHL.”
