The Penguins close out their 2022 preseason with a matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, October 7 at PPG Paints Arena. Doors to the arena will open at 6:00 PM. This past weekend, Pittsburgh dropped a 3-1 decision to the Sabres at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. Dating back to the beginning of the 2020-21 campaign, the Penguins hold a 5-1-0 record against the Sabres at PPG Paints Arena, outscoring Buffalo 22- 10 during that time. During their last meeting at PPG Paints Arena, goals from Jeff Carter, Brock McGinn, and Evan Rodrigues helped the Penguins to a 3-2 win over Buffalo on December 12, 2021.

DETROIT RECAP - OCT. 3, 2022

A 37-save performance from Casey DeSmith pushed the Penguins to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. In the game, DeSmith turned away 37 of 39 Detroit shots (.948 SV%), helping the Penguins to their second win of the preseason. Jason Zucker, Bryan Rust, and Josh Archibald all found the back of the net for Pittsburgh. Zucker's game winning goal was his team-leading third goal of the preseason. Pittsburgh's average time on ice leader in 2021-22, Kris Letang, led all Penguins' skaters in the game with 23:27 minutes of ice time.
