WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

This the second meeting of the year between the teams. He has points in 8 of his 9 appearances this year, while his 10 goals are tied for the lead in the Eastern Conference and tied for second in the NHL despite missing the 1st 6 contests of the season … The Caps are playing the Pens in the second of back-to-back contests. The Blue Jackets beat them in overtime, 2-1, at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday. … Head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that Matt Murray will start in goal for Pittsburgh. He's won all 4 of his starts this year, which leads all rookie goalies. Murray has gotten the nod in 9 career games against the Metro Division, going 6-2 with a 1.80 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage.

MORNING SKATE REPORT:

The Pens held an optional morning skate. Players that took the option not to skate were Evgeni Malkin, Phil Kessel and Ian Cole. Sullivan said all three are good to go for tonight.
