Game One ‘Gold-Out,’ Big Screen Highlight Penguins’ Playoff Initiatives

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins are calling for a “Gold-Out,” for Game One of the Stanley Cup Playoffs at CONSOL Energy Center.

All fans attending Wednesday’s 7:30 p.m. playoff opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets will receive gold t-shirts and gold towels as they enter the arena. The Penguins have done playoff whiteouts in the past.

The team also announced the return of a popular Pittsburgh playoff tradition: The Big Screen. Fans will again be able to watch all Pens playoff games outdoors on a 16’ x 9’ LED Screen, set up in the arena parking lot at the corner of Centre Avenue and Mario Lemieux Place.

The Big Screen will be part of an interactive and fan-friendly First Niagara Fan Zone, featuring special promotions and giveaways. The area also will include concessions from Pittsburgh Food Trucks and a PensGear merchandise trailer.

The FanZone and Big Screen area will open four hours before home games and two hours before road games.

For safety reasons, grills and alcoholic beverages will not be permitted.

The Penguins Playoffs are presented by Trib Total Media, AAA Auto Insurance and UPMC. For more information on the teams’ playoff initiatives, please go to
