* The Pens face their fiercest rival, Philadelphia, for the 1st time this season.

* The Pens finished the month of November on a 2-1-2 run.

* Center Sidney Crosby is coming off of his 11th career hat trick in Colorado on Wednesday. His most recent hat trick occurred in last spring's playoffs against Philadelphia after he potted 3 in Game 1 of the First Round.

* Jake Guentzel had a monster playoff round against the Flyers last year. He posted 13 points (6G-7A) in 6 games, including a 4-goal, 5-point game in the decisive Game 6 that eliminated the Flyers.

* The Flyers are a team in transition. Five days ago the team relieved general manager and team legend Ron Hextall of his duties. Head coach Dave Hakstol's future is also in doubt, as team president Paul Holmgren said his job will be decided by whomever the team hires as the new GM.

* Philadelphia's 10-12-2 record is tied for last place in the Eastern Conference.

* Center Claude Giroux paces the team with 21 assists and 29 points. Sean Couturier's 10 goals lead the club.

* With goaltender Brian Elliott out with a lower-body injury, the team will turn to Michal Neuvirth or rookie Anthony Stolarz.

PIT - Matt Cullen (lower-body), Matt Murray (lower-body), Justin Schultz (lower leg fracture).

PHI - Brian Elliott (lower-body), Corban Knight (dislocated collarbone).
