(Photos) The Pittsburgh Penguins and Dick’s Sporting Goods teamed up to raise $16,750 on Wednesday for the YMCA Junior Penguins program.

Penguins players Jordan Staal, Colby Armstrong, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kris Letang, Georges Laraque, Erik Christensen, Tyler Kennedy and Adam Hall took part in autograph sessions at the Dick’s Sporting Goods store at The Mall at Robinson.

In addition, another $6,000-plus is already committed for the YMCA Junior Penguins program through an ongoing auction. So far, the funds raised this year exceed last year’s by $10,000.

The Penguins and area YMCAs have joined force once again to promote youth participation in floor hockey, teach fundamental skills and promote the values of exercise through the YMCA Junior Penguins program.

The program is now offered in 27 YMCA branches and after-school locations, and is among the strongest programs offered in YMCA centers. The beginning and intermediate youth floor hockey program was created in 2005.

The Penguins, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Trib Total Media remain committed to providing structured program support and training, ensuring sufficient equipment is available, and providing other program funding.
